Commonwealth Law Ministers Meeting 2008
Location: Edinburgh, Scotland, UK
Date: 7 July 2008
The theme for this year’s Commonwealth Law Ministers Meeting (CLMM) is ‘The Role of the Justice Minister in Challenges facing the Rule of Law in the Commonwealth’. The CLMM will tackle a number of important and modern legal issues, including interception of communications, enforcing intellectual property rights, issues of overcrowding and detention in prisons, and the proliferation of small arms and light weapons.
The ministerial meeting will be preceded by a Commonwealth (Latimer House) Principles colloquium, organised by the Latimer House Working Group and Commonwealth Legal Partner Organisations. These Commonwealth principles set out the relationship between the legislative, executive and judicial branches of government in member countries.
