Commonwealth Week
Location: Events are taking place across the Commonwealth
Date: 10 – 14 March 2008
Commonwealth Week is an opportunity to promote understanding on global issues, international co-operation and the work of the Commonwealth, which aims to improve the lives of its 2 billion citizens. ‘The Environment – our future’ is the theme for this year’s Commonwealth Week.
Events taking place throughout the week include a multi-faith observance at Westminster Abbey and a lecture from Dr David Suzuki, an award winning scientist, environmentalist and broadcaster, at the London School of Economics.

Seventh Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting 2008: Youth and Peace Building
Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka
Date: 27- 30 April 2008
The meeting will enable Youth Ministers to contribute to the debate on emerging issues related to youth development, in particular the links between peace building, youth development and social transformation. They will also provide policy directions for the Commonwealth Youth Programme (CYP) following new CHOGM mandates for the period 2008 – 2012. Ministers will take stock of current CYP programmes and provide guidance on ways to address emerging challenges to strengthen the youth development agenda.
